LEOPARD ATTACK INJURIES ATLEAST 15
At least thirteen humans, which include 3 woodland personnel, have been injured in an assault via way of means of a leopard in top Assam’s Jorhat district on Monday, officers stated.
Forest officers stated, a stray leopard attacked woodland officers and the citizens of the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) at Chenijan in Jorhat on Monday.
The leopard, which sneaked into human habitat from a woodland commenced attacking humans with out provocation, stated a woodland official.
Most of the injured which include girls and kids are from the RFRI campus, placed at the outskirts of Jorhat town.
Forest branch officers stated the animal is probable to have intruded into the campus looking for meals from the neighbouring Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary.
“A overall of thirteen humans, 3 woodland branch team of workers and 10 civilians were injured withinside the assault. The leopard’s behaviour is erratic as they normally don’t assault humans,” HT quoted Jorhat SP Mohan Lal Meena as saying.
Meena stated all of the injured humans have been admitted to the clinic and their situation isn't always serious.
In a video captured via way of means of woodland officers, the huge cat is visible transferring across the campus. Another video suggests the leopard leaping over a barbed twine fence and attacking a four-wheeler.
Forest branch officers tranquillized the leopard on Tuesday morning.
