Itanagar : The bandh called by Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee( PAJSC- APPSC) hit noamal in corridor of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday. The PAJSC- APPSC called bandh to press for fulfilment of the 13- point duty of demands related to contended leak of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission question paper.
In the Capital Complex comprising – Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, business establishments, requests, banks, educational institutions, government and private services remained unrestricted and vehicles kept off the road, a elderly police officer said. Thousands of protestors blocked the NH- 415 by burning tyres.
The government temporarily suspended internet services in the Itanagar capital region from 6 pm of Friday to 5 pm of Sunday in the “ interest of public safety ”.
The government order said the step was taken at the request of the director general of police to “ help farther circumstance of serious law and order problems during the bandh which has taken a serious turn after the destruction of police fences, lathicharge and blasting of tear gas shells ”.
Scores of protestors and police labor force were injured in posterior clashes on Friday, which impelled the police to resort to lathicharge and to heave tear gas shells, officers said.
The situation urged Chief Minister Pema Khandu to call off the pledge- taking of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission( APPSC) president and members on Friday.
He also invited the members of the PAJSC- APPSC to the civil secretariat on Saturday for a discussion. still, the protestors refused the assignation saying that the bandh would continue till all the demands are fulfilled.
The state government on Friday laid over the state board examinations for classes V, VII and XI, listed on Saturday. An sanctioned order stated that the board examinations in all seminaries of the capital region have been laid over and would be held latterly.
The Committee is demanding that all examinations conducted by APPSC of which question papers were allegedly blurted be declared null and void, immediate arrest of the former Commission president, clerk, members and other officers, a court- covered and Enforcement Directorate inquiry into the failure and immediate redundancy
of state government officers involved in it.
