Statement of DGP Assam Police

 

Under the visionary leadership Hon'ble CM of Assam Shri Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, 2022 has been a wonderful year for Assam Police. We have yet again been able to stand true to our motto of Jana Hitaye, Jana Xewarthe with active participation from the citizenry we serve. 

Some of the notable highlights of the year 2022:

-- War of Drugs: Rs. 781 Crore worth of drugs seized. 4,663 arrests. 2,860 cases registered. One of the biggest hauls in the country!!

-- War on Radicalization: 8 modules of ABT/AQIS busted. 51 arrests including Bangladeshi mastermind. 9 cases. Most importantly, under the aegis of DGP Shri Bhaskar J. Mahanta, a madrassa reformation project has been undertaken with active participation of the ulemas of the Muslim community as they are the key stakeholders in the modernization of the education system of Muslim youths.

-- Transparent Recruitment: 14, 556 successful recruitments under the aegis of SLPRB.

-- Counter Insurgency Ops: 7 insurgent organizations surrendered en masse. Rehabilitation of 7,229 cadres in last 2 years. Huge cache of arms, explosives and cash seized during active operations.

-- Infrastructure Development: 83 Police Outposts, 18 SDPO Office cum Residences, 17 SP Offices, 12 SP Residences have been undertaken for construction/upgradation with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 181 Crores.

-- Anti- Maoist Ops: One of India's most wanted leaders, Arun Kr. Bhattacharya @Kanchan Da arrested with accomplices. He had a bounty of Rs 3.4 Crores on his head and over 200 cases against his name.

—- Not one rhino was killed by poacher during last one year. 

      There are so many more that it will be exhausting to go on. We seek kind indulgence of the people of Assam to help, support and cooperate with Assam Police like the last year as we embark on a path of service delivery.
